Derith Jarvis

Derith JarvisAs managing partner of Mohr’s Site Selection and Incentive team, Derith oversees all site selection activities for national accounts and one-off transactions in markets across North America. Mohr Partners’ site selection department deliverables include market availability analysis, mergers and acquisitions support, comparable studies, real estate market trend analysis, labor and demographic analyses and GIS mapping to name a few. Derith also personally oversees the process of negotiating economic incentives at all levels of government on behalf of Mohr’s clients. Derith joined Mohr Partners in 2006 as the Director of Research and Site Selection.

Prior to joining Mohr Partners, Derith spent 8 years with Nielsen Media Research, a leading provider of television audience measurement and related services. During his time at Nielsen, his responsibilities included preparation of sample market analyses, including demographic studies, and managing the demographic makeup of assigned Nielsen samples. He was also responsible for implementation of several different research methodologies and overall field operations management for Nielsen’s New York market.

Derith has been a featured speaker at various industry events including Expansion Management’s Roundtable in the South, Consultant Connect, Southern Economic Development Council’s Meet the Consultants, Area Development’s Consultant Forum, Teamwork Louisiana Conference, Kentucky United Economic Development Conference and several other state economic development conferences.

In 2008, Derith was named Mohr Partners’ Mentor of the Year. He also served in the United States Navy for four years and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.

Rose Burden

Rose BurdenRose Burden is an Executive Director and the Southeast Leader for the Business Tax Credit and Incentives Practice at Ernst & Young LLP, a US member firm of the global EY organization.

Rose assumes a leadership role in identifying business incentive opportunities for clients in the six-state region.  She has secured millions of dollars in savings for clients with facility or capital investment expansion projects.  Rose has also helped clients realize significant benefits in areas such as state and local grants, local property tax reductions, training program grants and tax credits, expedited permitting, reduced land costs, sales and use tax abatements, enterprise zone benefits, income tax credits, infrastructure grants and utility rate reductions.

Rose has more than 25 years of project management and economic development experience in local and statewide development.  She has served as the lead project manager on numerous corporate relocation and expansion projects in industry sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, technology, broadcasting and entertainment networks and manufacturing and distribution.

Rose has facilitated the approval of property tax and other incentives for more than 200 Fortune 100 projects in North America and globally.  She has an exceptional track record of establishing relationships and building support teams with key government officials and the private sector, delivering positive economic impact projects for clients and communities.  A primary goal is to maximize business incentives and bottom line savings for clients.

Prior to joining the firm, Rose directed economic development and corporate expansion programs for Fulton County (Atlanta based), and was a former senior site selection project manager for Oglethorpe Power Corporation.

Rose received her BS in Business and Marketing from Florida State University.  She is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute – University of Oklahoma.  Rose completed economic development certificate requirements from Georgia Institute of Technology.  She is a Real Estate Licensed Professional in the state of Georgia.

Chris Schastok

Chris Schastok

Chris Schastok is a vice president of CBRE’s Location Strategy & Incentives practice. This advisory group assists clients globally with site selection and economic incentive negotiations, in conjunction with the overall strategy and execution of corporate real estate initiatives. Aligning location decisions with business strategy, Chris has negotiated more than $1B in incentives and has vast experience representing clients on corporate headquarters, shared services, food processing, heavy manufacturing and warehouse/distribution center projects.

Prior to joining CBRE, Chris was a part of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Business and Economic Incentives Group, where he focused on site selection, economic incentive negotiations and overall real estate strategy. Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, Mr. Schastok served as an Associate at SmithBucklin, where he acted as the liaison between professionals from a large Mergers & Acquisitions association and lead decision makers from national Private Equity Groups to enhance M&A capabilities.

Chris has contributed to several business publications, including Area Development Magazine and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs 2012 Foreign Direct Investment study. As a guest speaker, he has addressed many professional organizations including the Dallas Regional Chamber, the Missouri Partnership, the North Alabama Industrial Development Conference and Area Development’s Consultants Forum in Florida and Texas.

Chris is a Licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker, a Six Sigma Green Belt, a Reserve Media, Inc. Advisor, a Member of the State of Michigan’s 2013 Location Advisory Board and a Board Member of Women’s Global Education Project.

Chris received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
